a life saving medical device
The Tensionsquare was developed to address the urgent need for a stabilization device during the application of needle decompression to patients suffering from pneumothoraces. This condition can occur as a result of trauma and must be treated to stabilize a patient and restore fully functional breathing. Prior to the invention of the Tensionsquare, a medic would use whatever was on hand, be it gauze, tape, or other miscellaneous items, to try and stabilize the needle and catheter used during the procedure. During an emergency situation, this can result in the catheter being lost while the patient is in transit. Losing the needle means losing the patient's life. This is unacceptable for medical professionals sworn to uphold the hippocratic oath and do their utmost to save our loved ones when an emergency occurs.
